About the Role
Our client is currently seeking an experienced and highly organised Seafreight Operator to join their operations team in Shannon.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated logistics professional to join an established organisation and play a key role in coordinating sea freight operations while ensuring exceptional customer service standards are maintained.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing shipments from initial booking through to final delivery while working closely with customers, suppliers, transport providers and international agents.
Key Responsibilities
- Process shipment bookings for sea freight forwarding operations.
- Monitor shipments from customer booking through to final destination and payment.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Liaise with local and international suppliers and agents to secure the most competitive rates and services.
- Coordinate collections and deliveries with transport providers.
- Process sales and purchase invoices and resolve any invoice-related queries.
- Prepare quotations and respond to customer rate requests.
- Assist with customs clearance documentation and requirements.
- Support the ongoing development of sea freight services.
Additional Duties
- Provide holiday cover within the operations department.
- Assist other freight departments when required.
- Attend occasional customer visits.
- Support operational projects and other business requirements.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Previous experience within freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain operations.
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
- Experience coordinating shipments and working with transport providers.
- Knowledge of customs procedures and clearance requirements.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both local and international stakeholders.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
