Job description

Our client, a leading manufacturing company, has a vacancy for a Purchasing Manager at their site in Co Fermanagh.

The company has been operating since the 1970's and they are an integral part of larger group. They are constantly evolving through technical innovation, and they are now at the forefront of providing pioneering, cost effective, construction solutions designed to meet the needs of any construction project.

The Role:

As a Purchasing Manager, you will be required to carry out a variety of duties including

  • Lead and develop the purchasing team, setting performance KPIs, conducting regular reviews, and supporting ongoing professional development.
  • Drive strategic procurement and cost savings by consolidating material demand across business units, leveraging volume discounts, negotiating group agreements, and delivering supplier cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Manage supplier performance and relationships, establishing division-specific SLAs and monitoring delivery, quality, and service levels through centralised dashboards to minimise production disruption.
  • Optimise supply chain and inventory management, maintaining accurate vendor and item data, regularly reviewing minimum/maximum stock levels, and ensuring purchasing activities align with changing production requirements.
  • Maintain ERP and purchasing systems, supporting the transition to Microsoft Business Central and ensuring effective system usage across the team, while applying strong knowledge of MRP, ERP, international trade, customs, logistics, and post-Brexit UK trade requirements.

Hours of work:

  • Mon - Thurs 8am - 5.30pm and Fri 8am - 4pm
  • 42hrs per week

Requirements for the successful Purchasing Manager:

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in buying, procurement, or supply chain roles.
  • Previous Supervisory experience essential
  • Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with an ability to analyse cost scenarios and manage departmental budgets.
