Logistics Support Technician
Location: Bangor
Hours: 36.25hrs PW M-F
Pay Rate: £16.68 per hour

MAIN PURPOSE

To support service delivery of Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue (NIFRS) Fleet Engineering & Supplies and Operational Area Command tasks including issue and receipt of the SPATE and spare operational appliances, driving all variants of NIFRS specialist vehicle fleet, testing, inspection, decontamination and certification of operational equipment. Maintenance, transfer and delivery of equipment, supplies and personnel to operational incidents and maintenance duties. To participate in the regional duty standby Rota to facilitate an effective logistical support network to ensure operational resilience is maintained out of hours to support service delivery activities throughout the region and cross border in support of NIFRS operational incidents.

Summary of Responsibilities:

1. To support service delivery by assisting Fleet Engineering & Supplies (SSC) and Area command managers in tasks including driving specialist vehicles, testing, calibration and maintenance and certification of operational equipment, delivery of equipment, supplies and personnel to operational incidents, cleaning and maintenance duties.

2. To participate in the regional duty standby Rota to facilitate an effective logistical support network to ensure operational resilience is maintained out of hours to support service delivery activities throughout the region and cross border in support of NIFRS operational incidents.

Systems & Service Improvement

1. To undertake other duties which may be assigned to meet systems and service improvement and which are reasonably regarded as within the nature of the duties, responsibilities and grade of the post as defined. General Responsibilities 1. To assist the Supplies team in the processing of the contaminated PPE and the reconciliation of the laundered PPE and prepare the garments for forward delivery to the Logistics hubs.

2. Ensure site security protocols are adhered to and carry out daily site security checks.

3. To provide a high level of internal and external customer service.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

A minimum of three years' experience working in a service delivery environment which included driving Large Goods Vehicles (LGV). Possess a full, current HGV/LGV category C, UK driving licence which enables them to fulfil the full requirements of the role. Possess a full, current B+E UK driving licence which enables them to fulfil the full requirements of the role. Demonstrate: a) working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Management Information Systems. b) Ability to work individually or as a team member. c) Effective communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to provide timely and accurate information. d) Customer service orientation. e) Effective planning, organisation, prioritising skills and attention to detail. Possess a Counter Balance and Reach & Tier forklift truck licence. (Or be willing to complete training)
