JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE & BAND: Support Services Assistant Band 2

DIRECTORATE: Planning, Performance & Corporate Services

INITIAL LOCATION: Limavady, Strabane, Derry/Londonderry

REPORTS TO: Support Services Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

To work as part of a team providing general cleaning, catering or laundry duties ensuring a high standard of cleanliness, food service and fresh linen is delivered and maintained in all areas.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out duties and responsibilities in a manner which assures patient and client safety, at all times.

Catering Services

  • Providing beverages, preparation / cooking of meals, light snacks including the regeneration of chilled / frozen product sandwiches and salads
  • To portion and serve meals and snacks to patients, staff and customers
  • Checking and recording food temperatures
  • Recording fridge and chiller temperatures
  • Collection and disposal of all environmental waste
  • Mechanical and manual dishwashing
  • Stock control
  • Cleaning duties including all food areas, cutlery, crockery, utensils and equipment
  • Preparing trolleys and tables for meals
  • Deliver and collection of trolleys as directed
  • To collect cash when required for items of food or beverages
  • Assist in menu collation
  • Prepare for and serve at Trust hospitalities and functions

Domestic Services

  • Cleaning of all sanitary areas and appliances
  • Cleaning of all furniture and fittings and all floor areas
  • Removal and rehanging of all curtains and blinds
  • Operate industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Full and spot cleaning of walls, windows, glass partitions, paintwork
  • Dust control of high surfaces
  • Receipt and storage of cleaning materials
  • Collection and disposal of all environmental waste
  • Replenishing all hand towels, soap, toilet rolls etc.
  • General security of areas (may include operation of electronic alarms)
  • Cleaning of spills including bodily fluids, in keeping with the Trust's policy on control of infection
  • Carry out catering and laundry duties as required.
  • Completion of Environmental Cleanliness Audits Action plans.
  • Complete safety check on all equipment before use.
  • Recording use by dates on cleaning solution containers.

General Management Responsibilities

The post holder will promote and support effective team working, fostering a culture of

openness and transparency. The post holder will ensure that they take all concerns raised with them seriously and act in accordance with 'Your right to raise a concern (Whistleblowing)' policy and their professional code of conduct, where applicable.

General Requirements

The post holder will be required to:

  • Ensure the Trust's policy on equality of opportunity is promoted through his/her own actions and those of any staff for whom he/she has responsibility.

  • Co-operate fully with the implementation of the Trust's Health and Safety arrangements, reporting any accidents/incidents/equipment defects to his/her manager, and maintaining a clean, uncluttered and safe environment for patients/clients, members of the public and staff.

  • Adhere at all times to all Trust policies/codes of conduct, including for example:
    • Smoke Free policy
    • IT Security Policy and Code of Conduct
    • standards of attendance, appearance and behaviour

  • Contribute to ensuring the highest standards of environmental cleanliness within your designated area of work.

  • Co-operate fully about Trust policies and procedures relating to infection prevention and control.
