Production Manager | Belfast | £40,000 - £45,000

We are seeking a Production Manager to join our client, a leading distributor of locally produced food products, as they expand their operations and embark on an ambitious growth plan. This is exciting time to join the company in a senior leadership position as the company starts its newest journey.

Working hours - Monday to Friday 07:00 - 15:30 (early finishes available on Fridays!)

Role:

Reporting to the Head of Operations you will manage the production team (including two team leaders), ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of products. You will be responsible for developing and implementing production schedules are kept, and meeting business/customer requirements.

Duties:

A full comprehensive list available on request but will include:

• Deliver the production plan through the effective deployment of people, equipment and materials, ensuring customer requirements and business / cost centre targets are achieved.
• Risk reporting and cost centre performance against budget.
• Shift planning and production activities, maintaining control of output, quality, efficiency, waste, labour productivity and service performance.
• Maintain appropriate workforce planning, including attendance, absence management, holidays, overtime, shift cover and skills development.
• Lead, coach and develop the team through regular feedback, performance management, training and development planning.
• Ensure full compliance with company standards, customer requirements, food safety legislation, GMP and accreditation standards.
• Provide visible leadership in health and safety, ensuring compliance with company policies, risk assessments, safe systems of work and PPE requirements.
• Maintain accurate control of inventory, material usage, traceability and stock reconciliation processes.

Essential Criteria:

• Experience in a Production Manager, Supervisor, or similar manufacturing leadership role.
• Proven people leadership, coaching and performance management capability.
• Knowledge of food manufacturing, GMP, food safety and quality systems.
• Experience of production planning and achieving operational KPIs.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships across departments and drive collaboration.
• Competent IT skills and experience using production, ERP or stock management systems.

Desirable:

• HACCP qualification.
• Food Safety qualification.
• Health and Safety or risk-assessment training.
• Experience supporting customer, technical or external accreditation audits.
• Experience of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, stock control or traceability systems.
