Job description

Our client, a large public sector organisation, requires a Learning & Development Administrator to be based in Cookstown.

Role: Learning & Development Administrator

Rate of Pay: £16.68 per hour

Location: Cookstown

Hours: 36.25

Duration: 6 months (possible extension)

Key Responsibilities

Learning & Development Support

  • Support the delivery and implementation of L&D initiatives in line with organisational needs.
  • Collaborate with L&D teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to design and develop high-quality training materials and resources.
  • Provide guidance on L&D policies, procedures, and best practice.
  • Assist in the development of innovative learning solutions, including blended learning, e-learning, and digital content.
  • Act as a first point of contact for L&D queries, ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with training providers and key personnel.

Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Maintain and manage the LMS, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance with GDPR.
  • Provide user support, troubleshooting, and training on LMS functionality.
  • Assist in the design, development, and continuous improvement of online learning programmes.
  • Monitor and evaluate learning solutions, producing reports and insights to support decision-making.
  • Liaise with system providers to resolve issues and enhance system performance.

Administration & Coordination

  • Deliver high-quality administrative support, including organising training events, meetings, and resources.
  • Manage training logistics such as scheduling, equipment, travel, and accommodation.
  • Produce accurate management information, reports, and documentation.
  • Handle enquiries, complaints, and requests (including FOI and data protection requests) in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support contract administration, including purchase orders, invoices, and expenditure tracking.
  • Maintain training records, documentation, and version control in line with records management standards.

General Duties

  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, including procurement, equality, health & safety, and data protection.
  • Support recruitment and selection processes as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of L&D practices and organisational procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and uphold the organisation's reputation and standards.
  • Undertake additional duties as required in line with the role and organisational needs.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold a HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g. Business Administration, IT, Multimedia)
    and have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a Learning & Development or administrative role;

OR

  • Hold 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including English and Maths,
    and have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a Learning & Development or administrative role.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrate:
    • Excellent planning and organisational skills
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior management
    • A strong customer-focused approach
  • Experience in interpreting data and producing reports relating to learning management information

Other Requirements

  • Hold a full, current UK Category B driving licence

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working within local government or the wider public sector
  • Experience in software or system administration
  • Working knowledge of system directories, file structures, and troubleshooting technical issues
  • Working knowledge of web design and graphic software
  • Proficiency in relevant software packages (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate, Zoom, Loom, Microsoft Teams)
