Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Location: Co. Monaghan (Lough Egish area)
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Control Technician to join a well-established food production business based in Co. Monaghan. This is a hands-on role within a busy production environment, working as part of an experienced Quality team and reporting directly to the Technical Manager.
The position will be primarily based at the Lough Egish site, supporting the liquid egg division of the business. The successful candidate will work closely with production supervisors and a team of approximately 20 general operatives (full-time and part-time) to ensure the highest standards of food safety, compliance, and product quality are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day quality control checks on the production floor
- Conduct raw material testing, finished product inspections, weight and label verification, and temperature monitoring
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety legislation, and customer specifications
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems, including BRCGS standards
- Monitor hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) across production areas
- Assist with customer and third-party audits
- Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Complete quality documentation, reporting, and record keeping in line with internal procedures and standards
- Support training and awareness of food safety and quality standards among production staff
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in quality and process efficiency
The Role
This is a practical, hands-on quality role within a live production environment. Strong operational awareness and planning are essential, particularly as production equipment such as pasteurising machines must run continuously once started each morning until all product is processed.
The role combines factory floor presence with administrative and reporting duties, so strong computer skills (Excel, Word, and email communication) are required.
Experience & Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of HACCP and Quality Management Systems
- BRCGS experience is essential
- Experience with CIP (Clean-in-Place) systems
- Experience working with pasteurising machines or similar food production equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Hours
- Typically 6:00am - 3:00pm
- Some days may require 8:30am - 5:30pm, depending on production requirements
