Our client, Northern Health and Social Care Trust, is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to fill the position, supporting the transport, portering, and care needs of their clients.
Role: Driver with Caring Duties
Rate of Pay: £12.75
Location: Holywell Hospital Site, Antrim OR Magherafelt
Hours: 37.5 (8am-5pm)
Duration: 2-3 Months.
Key Result Areas / Main Responsibilities
Driving Duties
- Transport clients/patients including elderly individuals, people with physical disabilities, epilepsy, psychiatric conditions, and visual impairments to Trust Adult/Day Care facilities.
- Convey clients to educational classes, social outings, and luncheon clubs.
- Operate vehicle tail lifts (where provided) following appropriate training.
- Secure wheelchair users using approved restraint systems to ensure safe travel.
- Perform daily routine vehicle checks and minor maintenance, including:
- Checking fuel, oil, and water levels
- Maintaining tyre pressure
- Cleaning vehicles
- Changing punctured wheels where necessary
Vehicle Records and Compliance
- Complete journey records including mileage, fuel usage, oil replacement, and passenger information.
- Maintain accurate daily vehicle log sheets and submit monthly reports as required.
- Follow all vehicle usage procedures and adapt to updated recording requirements when introduced.
Portering Responsibilities
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles.
- Deliver and collect supplies between departments including:
- Food supplies and prepared meals
- Beds, bedding, and furniture
- Equipment and materials
- CSSD items, pharmacy supplies, and laundry
Care and Passenger Support
- Assist clients/patients with personal needs during transport (e.g., helping with footwear, switching off appliances before departure).
- Support clients when boarding and exiting vehicles, including wheelchair users and individuals using mobility aids.
- Provide basic immediate first aid if required (formal certification not mandatory).
- Assist with activities at day facilities and outings (e.g., serving meals) under supervision of care staff.
- Support emergency evacuations and provide transport assistance to ambulance services if required.
Requirements:
- Enhanced Access NI is required.
- Category D License is required with no restrictions.
- CPC Card valid for at least two years.
