Stock Controller

Derry
Full-Time | Permanent

We are currently recruiting for a detail-oriented and proactive Stock Controller to join a well-established and highly reputable construction merchant operating in Derry.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced inventory professional to play a key role in ensuring the efficient management of stock within a busy branch environment.


Working Hours

  • Monday - Thursday:
    7:00am - 4:15pm or 7:45am - 5:00pm

  • Friday:
    7:00am - 3:15pm or 7:45am - 4:00pm

  • Saturday:
    8:00am - 12:30pm (1 in 2 rota)


The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing stock control processes, maintaining accurate inventory records, and supporting both sales and procurement teams to ensure optimal stock availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate tracking and management of all stock items, including building materials, tools, and associated products

  • Maintain optimal stock levels, preventing overstocking or stock shortages

  • Monitor stock movements and investigate discrepancies

  • Conduct regular stock audits and stock takes, reconciling physical stock with system records

  • Coordinate inbound deliveries and ensure goods are receipted correctly into the inventory system

  • Work closely with sales and purchasing teams to identify high-demand lines and manage replenishment

  • Prepare and present stock reports, including usage trends and variance reports

  • Maintain an organised warehouse layout to improve efficiency and accessibility

  • Support internal teams and customers with stock queries and product availability

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards within the warehouse environment

Criteria

  • Previous experience in stock control or inventory management, ideally within a builders' merchants or similar trade environment

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Experience using stock management or ERP systems

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Good understanding of warehouse health & safety procedures

  • Physically capable of handling stock, including lifting and moving materials

  • Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
