Job description

Exciting new opportunity with our client Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council who are currently seeking a Warden based at Benone Holiday & Leisure Park.

Operationally manage Benone Holiday & Leisure Park, including accommodation options, indoor recreational facilities and ablutions, leisure pools, outdoor recreation facilities Council-managed commercial ventures, licensed out businesses, or any other additional / pop-up Park or facility.

Salary: £16.39 per hour increasing to £18.26

Hours: This post will operate an annualised hour's system, working up to 48 hours per week April to August (inclusive), 37 hours per week September/October and February/March, and 18 hours per week November to January (inclusive).

The post holder may be required to work up to 5 days per week during the peak season.

By its nature the post will require flexible working, for example, work outside normal office hours, including evenings, public holidays and weekends as required. This will include an "on-call" element to allow the post holder to respond to unplanned requirements related to the role.

Main Purpose of Post

  • Under the direction of the Holiday & Leisure Parks General Manager, be responsible for the supervision of Benone Holiday & Leisure Park.

  • The oversight and operational supervision of staff at the appropriate Holiday Park(s).

  • Ensure that the Council complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.

  • Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management and Supervision

  • Manage, direct and supervise to include training and development of permanent and seasonal staff, including contractors, Council staff and night security as appropriate.

  • Ensure the development and practice of a high standard of customer service delivery.

  • Liaise with and supervise associated businesses concerning Park and caravan maintenance, improvements, unit siting/removal, and the supply of utilities to comply with current regulations.

  • Proactively deal with any customer queries, complaints and problems on a daily basis.

  • The post holder will be required to liaise with other Council operated Holiday and Leisure Parks and provide out of hours cover based on an agreed rota system.

Administration and Finance

  • Be responsible for the administration of the Booking Systems including the online booking management system, invoicing, issuing of receipts and the management of all financial transactions including bank lodgements etc.

  • Assist the Holiday and Leisure Parks General Manager to develop and implement best practice to maximise the surplus of income over expenditure in all matters, including charged recreation activities and commercial sales, whilst continuing to deliver the best service to customers.

  • Record arrivals, departures, occupant's details, and usage trends for all customers.

  • Furnish accounts and reports, including online booking systems, as required.

  • Record meter readings for electricity and utilities, and furnish accounts.

  • In line with Best Practice instructions, ensure cash is collected regularly from coin operated showers, pay and display parking machines, laundry equipment, aire-de-service facilities etc. and issue tokens, electronic credits and/or change for machines.

  • Deliver all relevant administration required in the running of the park, including operational procedures, the letting of pitches and/or accommodation in accordance with Council policies and procedures, and obtaining any legislative requirements such as Entertainments Licences.

  • Proactively liaise with and assist any business leasing Council buildings or facilities on the park, or with any events or activities being delivered by approved third parties.

  • Act as the main point of contact for customer interaction, to ensure a high standard of service; investigating and resolving customer complaints and assisting customers where possible to maximise their enjoyment.

Maintenance

  • Ensure that the relevant Park is kept to a high standard of presentation and maintenance, delivering cleaning and buildings / facilities / grounds maintenance operations as required in accordance with Council procedures, and through linkage with other Council Directorates including Estates and the TABS function.

  • Ensure all equipment, buildings, facilities and machinery is kept in a safe and operationally good condition, and ensure all relevant records are updated as required. Carry out repairs where possible to equipment or site fixtures or make arrangements for repairs to be conducted in a timely fashion to avoid unnecessary disruption to the service.

  • Responsible for the implementation of Health and Safety procedures across the Holiday and Leisure Park facility.

  • Liaise with PSNI or other emergency services over any break-ins or occurrences involving the safety and security of park users and staff. As a keyholder ensure 24hr access is available for emergency services if required.

  • Ensure daily checks of wet side facilities and plant are carried out including pool water quality analysis using the comparator method of testing (P.H. and chlorine). And action corrective water treatment where applicable.

  • Ensure that customers, visitors, staff and Council's property are all adequately safeguarded through the delivery of all practices and documentation relating to Health & Safety. Ensure that measures to protect the health, welfare and safety are in place for staff and users of the Park.

  • Ensure the enforcement of Licence Agreements, terms/conditions and Park rules, including the suitability of any holiday unit to occupy a pitch on a

  • Actively engage with and promote any properly constituted Occupiers' Association, and organise events and competitions for customers either directly or indirectly as appropriate.

  • Under the direction of the Holiday & Leisure Parks General Manager, undertake marketing activities for the benefit of the customers and assist in the promotion of the park through the use of approved outlets e.g., social media, local business linkages, event listings and Council web pages.

  • Ensure site infrastructure including drains, sewers, electricity supply, grounds, pools, play areas, outdoor recreation infrastructure, open spaces, ablution facilities are maintained to an agreed high standard.

  • By its nature the post will require flexible working to meet the needs of the service. Attend meetings of the Council and any relevant working groups and prepare and present reports as required.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have

A third level qualification, in Tourism, business, administration or other related field of study

And

Demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples a minimum of one years experience of

  • Dealing with the public in a frontline role
  • Direct management responsibility for the operation of a caravan/holiday park or tourism facility
  • Direct management of staff
  • Operational Management experience of a wet side leisure facility

Plus

Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel and Outlook

Alternatively, consideration will be given to candidates who do not possess, the required education qualification but who can demonstrate Three years relevant experience outlined above.

Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Legislative framework governing caravan park management and operational issues that impact on service delivery in outdoor recreation leisure facilities
  • Facility management to include maintenance, repair, health & safety and risk assessments and energy management
