Building Services Compliance Officer
Location: Belfast
Salary: £18.72 p/h
Hours of work: Monday - Friday / 9am - 5pm (37 hours)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Building Services Compliance officer on behalf of our client a large public sector organisation to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations across their portfolio, including offices, depots, high-rise residential blocks, and hostels. Reporting to the Building Services Manager, you will oversee the planned and cyclical servicing and maintenance of specialist mechanical and electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, particularly in Heating Systems, Electrical Safety, Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detectors, and Lifting Equipment (LOLER).
- Assist in policy development, implementation, and compliance monitoring.
- Work with internal teams, contractors, and external agencies to ensure consistent operational delivery.
- Provide reports on inspections, maintenance, and certifications.
- Develop and monitor planned maintenance schedules to meet key performance indicators.
- Assist in managing budgets and expenditure forecasts.
- Deliver training and guidance on compliance areas.
- Engage with stakeholders, participate in working groups, and represent the organisation in meetings.
- Contribute to strategic planning and corporate objectives.
Essential Criteria:
Candidates must meet one of the following qualification and experience requirements:
- Degree (Level 6) in a relevant Building Services (Mechanical/Electrical) Discipline plus 2+ years' relevant experience OR
- BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma in a relevant discipline plus 3+ years' relevant experience OR
- Equivalent professional development and 5+ years' relevant experience.
Additionally, candidates must demonstrate Significant expertise in one of the following areas:
- Gas safety regulations & CP12 compliance OR
- Electricity at Work Regulations & electrical testing requirements.
Proven experience in:
- Managing contractors across multiple sites.
- Contract management and adherence to specifications.
