My client a leading public sector organisation based in Dundonald is currently seeking a Full-Time Tradesperson (Joiner)
Hours: The hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week, 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Thursday & 8.30am - 4.30pm on Friday, and full in office working.
The following details the job requirements:
- Hours per week: 37.5
- £15.33 per hour
- Duration of placement: Up to 6 months
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The Jobholder will be required to:
- Carry out a wide range of planned and reactive building maintenance and installation tasks in a safe, effective and economic manner.
- Carry out unplanned maintenance task which may include diagnosing and repairing faults for items such as, but not limited to:
- locking mechanisms for doors
- Ironmongery for doors (Handles, hinges, door closures, emergency release systems)
- Provide safe access to potential asbestos contaminated areas (above ceiling voids)
- Undertake planned maintenance checks for items such as, but not limited to:
- Building fabric and external ground condition surveys
- Fire compartment breaks, screens and doors
- Inspection of anti-ligature systems (e.g. windows, furniture, blinds, bedrails and bathroom fittings)
- Install and/or assemble items such as, but not limited to:
- Office furniture and accessories (Desks, notice boards, etc.)
- Washroom accessories (Mirrors, grab rails, soap dispensers, etc.)
- Wall impact protection/ hygiene cladding (corridors, clean rooms / showers)
- Respond to urgent reactive maintenance jobs such as, but not limited to:
- Temporary repairs to damaged windows and doors
- Roof leaks to a variety of roof types/systems and rainwater systems
- Broken or faulty drug cupboard security locks
- Perform the role of 'Competent Person' in relation to a range of specialist systems and procedure as defined by the statutory legislation and Best Practice Guidance in work areas such as, but not limited to:
- Workshop Machinery
- Operation of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs)
- Carry a Trust communication device e.g. pager/mobile phone, radio, tablet, etc.
- Participate and use the Trusts Time Management Software to record work activities.
- Carry a Trust allocated mobile device as part of the departments CAFM System for effective and efficient management of FM labour resource to enable optimisation of mobile live work scheduling and have the ability to use a range of computer based systems and developing technologies for this purpose.
- Participate and use the Trusts compliance management software to complete maintenance checks.
- Communicate technical issues to work colleagues and explain technical issues to other staff and patients.
- Use equipment manuals to diagnose faults and maintain equipment.
- Use drawings and manuals to diagnose faults and maintain plant and equipment.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment to carry out their duties.
- Carryout minor mechanical and electrical repairs and safety checks.
- Assist with the release of trapped passengers from lifts.
- Undertake condition surveys and to carry out acceptance testing of new equipment and building installations.
- Carry out his/her work in a diligent and timely manner.
- Participate in a range of statutory/mandatory training and development activities to fulfil the needs of the post.
- Supervise maintenance assistant checking and evaluating their work.

Experience
| 1. Working knowledge and experience of carrying out joinery and building maintenance repairs.
2. Working knowledge and experience in the use of woodworking machinery and hand / power tools. 3. Working knowledge and experience of undertaking tasks of other engineering trade groups. |

Qualifications/ Registration | 1. Must have completed a formal apprenticeship as a carpenter/joiner. 2. In addition to his/her apprenticeship, the applicant must hold a relevant qualification at least at NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) together with a minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience (see above for definition of Experience*) 3. Hold 'Competent Person' certified training in the following work areas: · Workshop Machinery · Operation of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) Candidates without training listed in item 3 only must complete within 12 months of appointment. Please note: It is the applicant's responsibility to provide full details of his/her qualifications and experience on their application form. |

Other | Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by The Organisation which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post. |

Knowledge | 1. Working knowledge of maintenance activities in a healthcare building environment. 2. Working knowledge and experience in the use of workshop machinery and hand/ power tools 3. Working knowledge of electrical engineering building services. 4. Working knowledge and experience of undertaking tasks of other trade groups. |
