Day Support Worker

Job Title: Day Support Worker
Location: Holywood
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Starting at £11.65 per hour (increasing with service)
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm)

About the Role:
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young adults with complex needs? We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Day Support Workers to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing person-centred care, ensuring that individuals can engage in meaningful activities and develop essential life skills within a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality support and care, promoting independence and well-being.

  • Assist individuals with personal care where required.

  • Implement personalised support plans and risk assessments.

  • Encourage participation in daily activities, including arts, education, and outdoor experiences.

  • Support individuals using preferred communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables.

  • Work in line with safeguarding policies, health and safety procedures, and best practices.

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning.

  • Participate in training and continuous professional development.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) OR at least 1 year of relevant care experience.

  • GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C or above) or equivalent.

  • Experience working in a care or educational support setting for at least six months.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Willingness to complete mandatory training and personal development.

  • Registered with (or willing to apply for) the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, autism, or complex medical needs.

  • Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or Autism.

  • Awareness of the principles of holistic and person-centred care.
