Day Support Worker
Job Title: Day Support Worker
Location: Holywood
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Starting at £11.65 per hour (increasing with service)
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm)
About the Role:
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young adults with complex needs? We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Day Support Workers to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing person-centred care, ensuring that individuals can engage in meaningful activities and develop essential life skills within a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality support and care, promoting independence and well-being.
Assist individuals with personal care where required.
Implement personalised support plans and risk assessments.
Encourage participation in daily activities, including arts, education, and outdoor experiences.
Support individuals using preferred communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables.
Work in line with safeguarding policies, health and safety procedures, and best practices.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning.
Participate in training and continuous professional development.
Essential Criteria:
Minimum QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) OR at least 1 year of relevant care experience.
GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
Experience working in a care or educational support setting for at least six months.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to complete mandatory training and personal development.
Registered with (or willing to apply for) the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).
Desirable Criteria:
Experience working with individuals with disabilities, autism, or complex medical needs.
Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or Autism.
Awareness of the principles of holistic and person-centred care.
