Senior Data Engineer (Band 7)
Location: Belfast
Salary: £23.60 p/h
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week / Monday - Friday
Duration: Temporary ongoing
The HSC Data Institute is driving a transformation in how health and social care data is used across Northern Ireland. They are building secure, scalable and innovative data platforms to empower patient-centred, data-driven decisions.
We are now recruiting a Data Engineer to join their Analytics and Insight team. This is a unique opportunity to help design and deliver a greenfield cloud-based data platform - the first of its kind in NI.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Build and optimise cloud-based infrastructure (preferably Azure).
- Collaborate with analysts, scientists, ICT specialists and healthcare professionals to deliver impactful data solutions.
- Implement robust data models, architecture and quality controls.
- Provide technical expertise, training and support to stakeholders.
Essential Criteria
- A degree (or equivalent) in ICT or related field with at least 3 years' experience in a data engineering role, OR 5+ years' relevant experience.
- Proven experience in:
- Data pipeline design and cloud infrastructure.
- Database and query design for reporting/analysis.
- ETL concepts and implementation.
- Programming in Python or R for data manipulation/analysis.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Current UK driving licence and access to a car (unless exempt under disability provisions).
