Retail Assistant x 2

We are recruiting for two part time Retail Assistants to join the team of a charity organisation based in Magherafelt. The role is to assist in the day to day running of the retail shop, providing good customer care and achieving income targets in support of children in the care sector.

To act in a professional, proactive capacity which contributes to the success of the charity organisation and the relationship with the carers, children, staff, volunteers, funders, stakeholders, customers and the general public.

This post required that a check must be carried out under the requirements of ACCESS NI enhanced disclosure. This will involve a full criminal record check which will show spent and unspent convictions, cautions, cases pending or any other relevant information.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in achieving agreed sales targets.

  • Ensure excellence in terms of customer service and customer care.

  • Implement shop policies as required.

  • Accept, sort and price stock and donations in accordance with organisational policies.

  • Ensure standards of hygiene are maintained and the shop is clean and tidy at all times.

  • Ensure the best possible presentation and display of goods for sale

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Experience of working in retail or customer service environment.

  • Experience of working with sales and targets.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Understanding of customer service skills.

  • Flexible and adaptable to change.

  • Good time management skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to retain confidence and discretion
  • Proven ability to work with minimum supervision and use own initiative to complete duties and tasks
  • A current driving licence with access to a car (can be waived in the case of applicant whose disability prohibits driving, but who is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements)

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment, juggling multiple projects simultaneously

Hours of Work

  • 20 hours per week - may include weekend work
  • Ideally shifts will be Monday to Wednesday and Thursday to Saturday
  • 12 months fixed term (then will be subject to funding)

Rate of Pay:

  • £11.51 per hour
