Job description

About the Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Legal Secretary to join their busy general practice law firm. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a strong legal background to provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support across multiple areas of law, including (but not limited to) conveyancing, family, litigation, wills & probate, and commercial law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to solicitors and legal executives
  • Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents and correspondence
  • Manage diaries, schedule appointments, and organise meetings
  • Handle telephone calls and client enquiries in a professional and confidential manner
  • Maintain and organise client files (both paper and electronic)
  • Assist with file opening and closing procedures, including conflict checks and ID verifications
  • Prepare and process invoices, bills, and other financial documents
  • Liaise with clients and third parties as required
  • Support the smooth running of the office with general administrative tasks

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a legal secretary ideally within a general practice
  • Excellent knowledge of legal terminology and documentation
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management systems
  • Fast and accurate audio and copy typing skills
  • Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Professional and confident telephone manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a varied workload
  • Discretion and respect for client confidentiality
  • Experience in multiple practice areas (e.g. conveyancing, family, litigation, probate)

Legal secretarial qualification or relevant training (preferred but not essential)
