Job description

Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation based in Coleraine require a Health and Safety Support Officer to join their team.

Role : Health and Safety Support officer.

Location : Coleraine

Hours of Work : 37 hrs per week

Hourly Rate : 1-12 weeks £17.64 13 weeks £19.35

Main Duties :

  • To co-ordinate, support and advise on all aspects of Health and Safety within the Estates Services.
  • To establish, oversee and monitor standards, processes, communication, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety are adhered to.
  • To continually review day to day health and safety practices within the Operations and Estates Departments to ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures in accordance with Health and Safety Codes of Practice and guidance.
  • Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

Essential Criteria :

  • NEBOSH (Diploma) qualified accreditation.

AND

  • Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, at least two years' relevant Health and Safety experience to include each of the following:
  • Audit/Inspection of facilities and operations;
  • Handling of Health and Safety investigations;
  • Experience in formulating, implementing and revising Health and Safety policies and procedures;
  • Providing Health and Safety advice to staff at all levels in a multi-discipline service provider.

PLUS

  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety and environmental legislation.

  • A full current driving licence (Category B, valid in the UK) and access to a vehicle that will enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
