Salary: €43,883 per annum, non-negotiable

Duration: Permanent, Full Time

Hours of work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm

Location: Dublin

THE ROLE!!!

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic organisation and be part of a multidisciplinary team that provides direct services to vulnerable people who have been in direct contact with the use of drugs and suffer from drug addictions.

You will be working as part of the Multi-disciplinary Project Team and under the guidance of the Clinical Nurse Manager 2, your responsibility is the efficient and effective delivery of a low threshold general health services to people who are actively involved with, or affected by, problem substance abuse.

You will carry out health assessments, health care plans and crisis interventions within the scope of your practice.

We are interested in receiving applications from both dual qualified Staff Nurses in the areas of general and psychiatric care or general nurses who have primarily worked in addiction and mental services and Emergency Department services.

Key Duties:

  • To provide skilled nursing care and treatment for a caseload of service users.
  • To maintain a high standard of nursing care, under the clinical governance structures of the organisation.
  • To liaise with other team members to ensure that medical care is provided as part of an

integrated care plan for service users, where appropriate.

  • To utilise approved assessment skills and techniques to determine service user needs.
  • To complete and document the nursing admission assessment in a thorough and accurate

manner.

  • To monitor and assess the service user's condition on an on-going basis.
  • To assess the need for service user/staff instruction on medical issues.
  • To develop and document plans of care based on service user needs in conjunction with the

safety net clinics and mainstream health services

Essential Criteria:

  • Must be eligible to work in Ireland, no sponsorship is offered for this role
  • Must be registered as a registered general or psychiatric nurse with An Bord Altranais/NMBI
  • Must show interest in Post Graduate Education/Self Development
  • Dual qualified in the areas of general and psychiatric care is desirable
  • A minimum of one year's post registration experience and experience in drug and alcohol, mental health or emergency nursing are essential
  • Experience of overdose management would be desirable
  • Must have an understanding of the health issues related with drug and alcohol use and an understanding of and commitment to Low Threshold, Harm Reduction and Social Justice.
  • Must have some knowledge of holistic treatment approaches.
  • Must have the ability to act calmly in emergencies and respond in a professional manner to challenging and stressful situations.
  • Ability to use initiative; apply sound decision-making skills, and to make rapid assessments of the needs of patients in your care.
