Environmental Officer

ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER | CORK | PERMANENT

Our client in the waste management sector is seeking an Environmental Officer based in Cork.

THE ROLE |

• The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications in environmental science and experience in similar health & safety roles ideally in waste management. This is an on-site full time role with 8 hour shifts. Salary will be dependant on experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |

• Manage an EPA licensed site from and EHS point of view
• Liaise with relevant bodies such as EPA, Local authorities, NWCPO, HSA
• Promote a culture of EHS excellence throughout the business
• Ensure company compliance with all environmental and health and Safety legislation across all aspect of the business.
• Complete thorough accident investigations for all accidents and liaise with company staff and Insurance companies
• Manage other EHS staff
• Analyse and report environmental performance to management
• Generate and maintain all environmental reports for external bodies
• Conduct employee and supervisory environmental, health and safety training

REQUIREMENTS |

• 3 years + experience in an Environmental management role and Health and Safety role preferably in the Waste management sector
• Experience in dealing with the EPA and the management of an EPA licensed site
• Experience is dealing with the NWCPO and waste collection permits
• Experience in dealing with Local Authorities
• Comprehensive knowledge of all EH&S regulatory requirements
• The successful candidate will need to be highly motivated and be able to work on their own initiative and deliver solutions.
• Hold relevant third level Certificate qualification in Environmental Science
