Environmental Health Safety Specialist

My client, a Galway based Medical Device organisation, are looking to seeking to hire an Environmental, Health & Safety Officer.

This role will suit someone with experience in an EHS function, within a manufacturing environment.

This is a permanent role based on-site in Galway City.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and company policies.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive HSE training programs for employees and contractors & conduct site inductions.
• Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses. Implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans. Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency procedures.
• Monitor and manage environmental aspects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Implement strategies for sustainable practices.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date HSE documentation, including risk assessments, incident reports, and training records.
• Effectively communicate HSE policies and procedures to all levels of the organization.
• Foster a safety-conscious culture.
• Stay informed about changes in HSE legislation and regulations. Ensure the company's practices align with current standards.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Accumulate a minimum of 2/3 years of HSE experience.
• In-depth knowledge of Irish health, safety, and environmental legislation showcasing a proven track record in developing and implementing HSE programs, policies, and procedures.
