Our client, a food manufacturing family run business, are looking for an Business Development Manager to join their sales team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for food. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing existing relationships within key international accounts and exploring new opportunities in new and existing markets, ensuring growth targets are achieved.

Responsibilities:
Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities across food service channels including wholesalers, distributors, contract caterers, QSRs, and hospitality groups.

  • Research market trends and potential partners to expand our food service footprint.

Account Management

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers.

  • Oversee pricing, promotions, and joint business planning to ensure mutual growth.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts.

Channel Strategy

  • Design and implement channel-specific sales strategies that align with the company overall commercial objectives.

  • Tailor approaches for different segments to maximize reach and impact.

Category Development

  • Collaborate with customers to understand their menu needs and recommend optimal product solutions.

  • Provide insights into trends and customer preferences to inform product development and innovation.

Brand Representation

  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, customer meetings, culinary events, and food service forums.

  • Champion the brand with professionalism and authenticity.

Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, New Product Development (NPD), Production, and Supply Chain teams to ensure customer satisfaction and support innovation initiatives.

Sales Reporting & Forecasting

  • Monitor performance against sales targets, budgets, and forecasts by product and account.

  • Provide regular reporting and insights to the Commercial Manager to support strategic decision-making

Sustainability Initiatives

  • Actively support and promote sustainability goals within the sales department

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in food service sales or business development.

  • Strong understanding of the food service industry and its supply chain dynamics.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, results-driven approach.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple stakeholders.

  • Passion for food and sustainability
