Business Continuity Planning Manager

At Staffline Recruitment we are partnering with our client, a public sector body who have experienced significant growth and change in recent years. As part of their growth and expansion they have a permanent opportunity available for a Business Continuity Manager to join their team

The Business Continuity Manager position will sit within the Risk Management and Business Continuity Planning Unit which provided high quality business support services to this organisation.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in building resilience into processes and systems thus safeguarding the organisation's ability to function during serious incidents and/or adverse events.

Working as a key advisor to the Executive Management Team and as a critical path partner of the Corporate Risk Manager, the role holder is responsible for liaising with all Directorates to ensure that Business Continuity Plans are developed, communication escalation pathways planned and regular testing of mitigation plans are completed and detailed in periodical reports required for business leadership teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategy Development: Building on existing documentation, draft the overall business continuity strategy for the organisation to act as the framework for the implementation of detailed and effective business continuity systems in all business
  • Business Impact Analysis: Evaluating strengths and weaknesses of key processes, systems and subject matter experts across the business including ICT, finance, general programme management subject matter expertise, training quality evaluation, evaluation of single points of failure, process weakness and the potential consequences of disruptions on key processes, systems and functions across all
  • Technology and Infrastructure: Review and analysis of ICT disaster recovery capabilities that support BCP. Focussing on examining Recovery Point Objective (RPO)/ Recovery Time Objective (RTO) objectives that are proposed to ensure that ICT systems, staff and infrastructure can support business continuity efforts when required by way of continuous business systems failure impact
  • Risk Assessment: Working with the Corporate Risk Manager the BCP Manager shall identify potential threats and vulnerabilities across each directorate that could impact the business and work with each team to address issues found via continuity Assess available subject matter expertise relative to required crisis management processes and report on gaps.
  • Plan Development: Creating detailed business continuity and disaster recovery priority list and create recovery plans to mitigate risks and ensure the organization's resilience. This will involve working closely with ICT and other support
  • Incident Response: Develop an overarching organisational fix and escalation plan that governs coordinating the response to actual serious business disruptions and working to minimize their impact and leading the incident investigation process after an incident.
  • Communication: Leading the BCP working group with key people from each directorate and developing communication protocols and systems to keep stakeholders informed during emergencies including escalation plans that reflect the nature of each directorate and its position in the
  • Testing and Training: Conducting regular system failure or person failure drills and/or scenarios and training sessions to ensure employees are prepared to execute the fix plans
  • Documentation: Maintaining thorough documentation of plans, procedures, and recovery
  • Compliance: Ensuring that the organisation complies with relevant governance requirements related to business continuity and disaster recovery including working towards ISO
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitoring and updating BCP plans to reflect changes and/or growth in the business and emerging threats.

Interested applicants will meet the following requirements:

  • Degree or 3rd level professional qualification (QQI Level 8 or higher) in a relevant
  • Minimum four years demonstrable experience in similar role at a large organisation working in the area of Business Continuity Planning and/or risk management in a complex business
  • Understanding of corporate governance processes and procedures, and assurance frameworks for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and plan BCP strategy based on own evaluation of
  • Clear understanding of risk management processes and integration of mitigation
  • Ability to identify and quantify potential single points of failure and be competent to advise on mitigation plans.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, administrative and IT
  • Highly organised with strong interpersonal skills, including verbal communication, report writing and presentation
  • Familiarity with the culture and organisation of state agencies and
  • Previous experience in leading and managing
  • Experience working independently and on own
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience communicating at all levels within an
  • Experience in analysis and problem
  • Proactive, results orientated and strong attention to
  • Proficient in MS packages, databases and SharePoint

This is a permanent role with a salary scale in the region of €70,000 - €90,000 depending on experience. This position will be based in Dublin City Centre offering a hybrid working model with a very flexible blend of office based and remote working. The successful candidate can be located anywhere in the Republic of Ireland but will be required to attend the office in Dublin as and when required.
