Job description

My client a leading public sector organisation based in Belfast is currently looking for an Operations Service Manager.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Pay: £22.37 per hour

KEY RESULTS AREAS -

Service Delivery

  1. Ensure all database servers are backed up in a manner that meets the RPO and RTO defined in customer SLA's.
  2. Troubleshoot database service outages as needed, including after-hours and weekends.
  3. Recommend most appropriate high availability and resilience options to meet customers' requirements.
  4. Undertake capacity reviews of managed databases on a regular basis.
  5. Document database environments to a quality standard.
  6. Mentor support team colleagues.
  7. Ensure that all operational delivery services and developments provided by ITS are planned and delivered in accordance with agreed support processes, SLA's and ITS quality standards (ITIL, ISO 9001 and ISO 20000).
  8. Ensure that all operational delivery services provided by suppliers are planned and delivered in accordance with agreed quality processes, SLA's and ITS quality standards as appropriate.
  9. Assist the Operations Manager with the planning of delegated budgets, deployment of financial resources and personnel in a timely manner to meet planned milestones and timetables.
  10. Assist the Operations Manager with the Development and maintenance of comprehensive and agreed project plans in accordance with ITS standards.
  11. To be a Specialist in the technologies and methodologies relevant to your business area, including the provision of expert Technical advice and guidance to other ITS business areas and to the wider HSC.
  12. Act as deputy to the Operations Manager in relation to representing ITS on relevant system governance structures e.g. Service Review Meetings, Management Groups, etc.
  13. Working with and monitoring suppliers in relation to performance, change, etc.
  14. Input to change release and change management activities associated with solution upgrades or change with all stakeholders, including ITS Change Advisory Board (CAB).
  15. Contributing to the development and maintenance of Service Transitioning Assurance Process (STAP) documentation for the services under Postholder control.
  16. Assisting the Operations Manager to help ensure an effective Problem Management process is in place.

Essential Criteria

  1. Hold a university degree in a computer science related subject or relevant ICT professional qualification and have a minimum of 3 years experience in an ICT technical management role within a major organisation*

OR

Have worked for at least 5 years in an ICT Technical management role within a major organisation

AND

  1. Have recent experience/knowledge of working with Infrastructure\Cloud technologies and licensing, such as Windows/Linux/Unix operating systems, Microsoft 365 & Azure\AWS\GCloud Technology, Relational Database systems, Virtualisation, High Availability, SAN Storage, Networking, Security, Client devices, Web servers, Integration technologies, Application support, etc.
  1. Have experience of leading or supporting ICT projects with a budget of over £50,000
  2. Have previous experience utilising a project methodology or contract management (e.g. PRINCE 2, other similar methodology).

**A major complex organisation is defined as one with at least 200 staff or a turnover of £50 million per annum

SECTION 2: The following are ESSENTIAL criteria which will be measured during the interview/ selection stage:

  • Have at least 2 years' experience managing teams of people.

  • Demonstrate evidence of personally managing and leading change within an organisation.

  • Have worked with a range of stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Have excellent communication skills to meet the needs of the post in full.

  • Must be competent using IT Tools and Services and willing to learn new skills in this area.
