JOB TITLE: CT Radiographer

Locations: Antrim Area Hospital

JOB SUMMARY: To undertake CT Scanning duties within the Northern Trust. To participate in extended working days and out of hours sessions to include CT on-call rotation or CT shift system. To participate in flexible 7-day working rotation to meet service demand

KEY RESULT AREAS / MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

* To lead by example in setting a high standard of personal work whilst acting as a member of a team to ensure the highest possible standards of work.

* Advise and assist staff of a more junior grade by providing advice based on knowledge and experience within the CT team.

* Undertaking CT scanning at Antrim Hospital, or any other hospital within the Northern Trust, including mobile CT scanning locations if required.

* Ability to liaise with relevant individuals and groups and establish good working relationships which support continuous quality initiatives.

* Ensure that personal quality of work is evaluated against performance and departmental quality standards. * To ensure Radiation Protection rules are applied at all times.

* Observe and comply with the Department's pregnancy, 10/28-day and Local Rules under IR(ME)R (NI) 2018. * To develop a comprehensive knowledge of the IR(ME)R (NI) 2018 and other related Radiation policies with particular regard to the identification and the justification process.

* To be familiar with and abide by:  Health & Safety at work order 1978;  Fire regulations;  COSHH Regulations;  Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017;  All present and future departmental quality standards;  SoR and HCPC codes of professional conduct for Radiographers.

* To comply with all Trust Infection Prevention and Control Protocols.

* Ensuring that equipment is properly maintained, reporting any deficiencies, malfunctions, defects or occurrence which may affect safety to the Radiographer in Charge.

* Maintaining a high standard of patient care with particular regard to patient dosage and radiation safety. * Acting as a Professional in treating each patient as an individual in terms of courtesy, kindness, sympathy and confidentiality.

* Participating in Post Registration Courses and In-service Education Programmes to ensure Continual Professional Development.

* Co-operate and take part in the provision of "Out of Hours" Emergency service including at short notice.

* Adopt a flexible approach to workload by participating in extended working day sessions to include evenings, weekends and Public Holidays.

* To participate in Research when required.

* To participate in the Directorate's Audit programme.

* Any other duties or responsibilities appropriate to the grade as directed by the Departmental Manager.

RECORDS MANAGEMENT

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

* At least 2 years' experience in General Diagnostic Radiography.

* Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography.

* Current Radiographer HCPC Registration.

* Qualification in IV cannulation or willing to train.

* PgCert/Diploma in CT or willing to train.

Other:

Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.

Skills / Abilities:

* Good communication skills.

* Demonstrate ability to be a Team Leader.

* Ability to determine & prioritise workloads.

Knowledge:

 Knowledge of role of Radiographer in CT Imaging.

 Knowledge of Q.A. Standards

 Knowledge of IR(ME)R (NI) 2018

 Knowledge of current Health Service Trends in Imaging.
