My client a leading public sector organisation based in Belfast is currently seeking a Full-Time Ophthalmic Science Practitioner.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
Pay: £15.33 per hour
Job Summary / Main Purpose
The post-holder will work as an integral member of multi-disciplinary ophthalmology team and will be responsible for providing ophthalmic diagnostic and imaging services.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
- Be responsible for providing ophthalmic diagnostic and imaging services to include the following image capture and testing procedures:
- Colour Retinal Fundus Photography
- Ocular Photography
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Visual Fields
- Be responsible for the setting up and smooth running of screening, diagnostic and imaging clinics.
- Ensure that patients attending clinics are adequately prepared by providing relevant information about the procedures being undertaken.
- Be responsible for the safety and welfare of patients attending clinics at all times.
- Have sufficient knowledge of a range of diagnostic and imaging tests to be able to decide on the most appropriate test for a particular patient.
- Be responsible for producing high quality images and reliable results and to recognise and rectify testing situations which may affect the validity of result.
- Maintain appropriate records and work to good clinical practice principles.
- Undertake administrative duties as necessary.
- Perform any other reasonable duties within the general ambit of the post and the competence of the post-holder.
Essential Criteria
BSc Health Science related or imaging experience
Good inter-personal and communication skills
Able to work in patient-facing role
