Safer Neighbourhood Officer - Belfast

Full-Time | £16.65 per hour

About the Role

  • We are seeking a Safer Neighbourhood Officer to be responsible to the appropriate line manager for assisting in the provision of enforcing relevant legislation with a view to reducing incidents of antisocial behaviour, on-street drinking and environmental crime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regular walkabouts or patrols in agreed locations to identify problems and enforce relevant bye-laws or legislation relating to antisocial behaviour. In particular (this list is not exhaustive):
  1. On-street drinking
  2. Littering
  3. Graffiti
  • To undertake on behalf of the council and the (D)PCSP the full range of duties in connection with the council�s strategic objective of supporting people and neighbourhoods
  • To work in conjunction with local representatives or other partner organisations to identify solutions to community safety problems.
  • To support the work of existing multi-agency structures, such as DPCSPs, ASB Fora, local community safety structures, PACT, Tension Monitoring, Youth Engagement Project etc., and to attend meetings as necessary.
  • To work closely with elected representatives to resolve local environmental and antisocial behaviour problems.
  • To undertake initial scene or incident management in line with incident response protocols.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must, as at the closing date for receipt of application forms:

  • have at least five GCSEs (grades A � C) including English, or equivalent qualifications;
    and
  • be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have at least one year's relevant experience in each of the following areas:
    (a) dealing with members of the public whilst working in an enforcement or legislative role, for example, litter enforcement, dog control orders and/or alcohol enforcement; and
    (b) administration work which includes producing written reports and maintaining records.
