My client is looking for an Assistant Accountant, someone who demonstrates both excellent verbal and written communication skills, mathematical skills and in-depth knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles with an understanding of analytics.
You will be essential in maintaining the accuracy of financial statements and ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards. So if you are proficient with accounting software, such as Sage or ERP systems and able to produce month end reconciliations, along with a strong attention to detail & accuracy, then this could be your next career move.
Communication will be one of your strong suits, enabling effective collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders. Alongside impeccable organisational skills which allow you to handle high-pressure situations with ease and maintain the smooth operation of your area of responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Formation of year end statutory accounts
- Maintenance of sales invoices and reports
- Reconciliation, including posting and balancing
- Forecasting & budgeting, including variance analysis
- Year end audit analysis
- Utilisation of accounting software
- Preparation of reports on debtors and creditors
- Completion of quarterly VAT returns
- Maintaining all necessary records including invoices, expenses, payments and transactions
- Management of ledgers
- Accruals & prepayments
- Verifying company expenses, bank deposits and bank payments
- Reporting discrepancies, mistakes or potential fraud to senior management
- Complying with financial laws and regulations alongside in-house policies
- Researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely fashion
To be successful you will need the following-essential criteria:
- A minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
- Experience of a high-volume finance department.
- Experience of a multi-company, multi-currency finance environment.
It would be Desirable if you had any of the following:
- A knowledge of UK and Irish VAT would be beneficial.
- A working knowledge of Sage accounting packages would be desirable.
- Strong Excel abilities are required, and familiarity with ERP accounting software is desired.
