Motor Vehicle Approval Engineer

1-Year Placement | €38,000-€40,000 annualised | Hybrid | North Dublin.

Are you an Engineer or Science graduate looking for an opportunity to build your experience within the automotive and vehicle approval sector?

We are currently seeking a Motor Vehicle Approval Engineer for a one-year placement, ideally available to start as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with EU, UNECE and Irish vehicle approval requirements while supporting Ireland's national vehicle approval function.

The Role

Working alongside the Head of Division and Senior Automotive Engineers, you will play an important role in assessing vehicle approval applications, supporting compliance activities and contributing to the development of national motor vehicle approval schemes.

You will gain exposure to a broad range of vehicle categories, including:

  • L: Two- and three-wheel vehicles and quads
  • M: Passenger vehicles
  • N: Goods vehicles
  • O: Trailers
  • T: Tractors

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assess EU and UNECE product approval applications and determine compliance with relevant requirements.
  • Review Conformity of Production (COP) requirements and ensure manufacturers meet EU and NSAI standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge of EU, UNECE and Irish motor vehicle approval requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of National Motor Vehicle Approval schemes.
  • Work with national stakeholders regarding requirements for Approved Vehicle Body Builders (AVBBs) and Approved Test Centres (ATCs).
  • Assess national product approval applications and make recommendations for approval.
  • Carry out workshop assessments relating to Tachograph, Plating and Road Speed Limiter requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of procedures and processes within the division.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders across the automotive sector.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Level 8 Honours Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline.
  • At least 2 years' relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Knowledge or experience of EU/UNECE Motor Vehicle Requirements.
  • Experience with national requirements relating to M, N and O category vehicles.
  • Ability to develop and improve technical procedures and processes.
