LIMS IT Manager
Location: Newforge
Hours: Part-time, 3 days a week
Pay Rate: £19.59 per hour
The Role
We are seeking an experienced LIMS IT Manager to provide operational leadership and support for AFBI's laboratory and customer-facing IT systems during a period of significant service transition.
This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional with strong business application, stakeholder and service management experience to play a key role in supporting critical laboratory services and shaping their future operating model.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation and support of AFBI's existing LIMS applications during the transition period.
- Ensure continuity of BAU services, including incident management, problem resolution and user support.
- Support the transition of laboratory services to the commercial LIMS platform and coordinate service transition activities.
- Provide operational ownership and support for the AFBI Customer Portal and related Salesforce services.
- Coordinate support for integrations between the Customer Portal, Sample Manager LIMS, NIFAIS and finance systems.
- Act as the primary liaison with implementation partners, software suppliers and third-party service providers.
- Manage software licensing, maintenance agreements and associated procurement activities.
- Develop and maintain support documentation, operational procedures and knowledge-transfer materials.
- Build internal capability and establish sustainable support arrangements for the Customer Portal and associated systems.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to ensure systems continue to meet operational requirements.
- Line manage and support technical staff, contractors and third-party resources as required.
- Produce service reports and contribute to governance, planning and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
You will have:
- At least a Level 4 qualification in Computing, Software Engineering or another discipline relevant to Information Systems and Information Technology.
- For qualifications claimed as relevant, at least 50% computing content must be demonstrable. Applicants should provide sufficient detail regarding their course content to enable this assessment.
Experience
You will also have a minimum of 2 years' experience supporting, managing or delivering business-critical information systems within a commercial, public sector or laboratory environment, including experience in all of the following:
- Supporting and maintaining business applications or operational systems within a live production environment.
- Working with business users and stakeholders to capture requirements, investigate issues and implement system improvements.
- Supporting systems that utilise relational databases and integrated interfaces.
