About the Role
We are currently recruiting a Fire Prevention Officer on behalf of a leading public healthcare organisation in Dublin. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a healthcare environment where fire safety is critical. You'll work across varied healthcare sites, lead meaningful safety initiatives, and gain valuable public sector experience while helping protect people and infrastructure every day.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice on fire prevention, fire risk management, compliance, inspections, training, and emergency planning across healthcare facilities. You will be become part of the Capital & Estates Department and report to the Estates Manager.

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for supporting fire safety compliance and prevention across assigned healthcare sites, including:

  • Conducting regular inspections of buildings, fire exits, alarms, extinguishers, hydrants, and firefighting equipment
  • Reviewing and developing fire evacuation plans and fire safety procedures
  • Organising and overseeing fire drills across healthcare facilities
  • Delivering fire safety training to staff
  • Monitoring high-risk areas and reporting breaches of fire safety standards
  • Advising management on fire legislation, building regulations, and Health Technical Memorandums
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections, incidents, drills, and compliance reports
  • Assisting with emergency planning and minor capital works related to fire safety
  • Supporting contractor safety compliance on-site
  • Participating in quality, safety, and risk committees

Requirements
To be considered, candidates should have:

  • Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Architecture, Health & Safety, Building Services or Building Surveying
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a comparable fire safety / fire prevention role

OR

  • Level 6 qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Architecture, Health & Safety, Building Services or Building Surveying
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a comparable fire safety / fire prevention role

Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Fire risk assessment experience
  • Experience preparing fire safety certificate applications
  • Experience delivering fire safety training
  • Strong technical knowledge of fire regulations and building compliance
  • Full access to transport to fulfil role requirements
