Our client Northern Ireland Housing Executive, requires an Electrician located in Coleraine.
Role: Electrician
Rate of Pay: £16.90
Location: Coleraine
Hours: 37 hrs per week - Monday to Friday - 8.30am to 4.30pm
Duration: Temp ongoing.
Main purpose:
To contribute, to the provision of a modern, professional and responsive service to support NIHE business delivery by conducting electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and diagnostics in Housing Executive properties and carry out health and safety testing of equipment, while upholding safety guidelines and complying with all applicable Codes and Regulations in line with our vision and values as outlined below.
Operational Responsibilities
- To undertake all electrical work as necessary in the maintenance and refurbishment of Housing Executive stock and buildings.
- To undertake, as and when required, first and second fix electrical work associated with major and minor construction work and refurbishment including response maintenance repairs.
- To undertake fault-finding, and diagnostics in Housing Executive properties and make good the defect.
- To carry out minor work outside trade where required for operational purposes.
Testing
- To carry out electrical inspections and health and safety testing of domestic properties.
- To carry out inspections of smoke alarms and ensure replacement as necessary.
Customer Service
- To provide a quality customer service and maintain a good customer relationship on behalf of the NIHE.
- To liaise with customers to arrange appointments, access arrangements, discuss work required etc.
General Duties
- To carry out and complete all work to a high quality and in a competent and timely manner and leave the property in a clean and tidy condition.
- To collaborate with other staff / sub-contractors etc. as necessary to ensure the timely completion of works within agreed operational targets.
- To provide a service to customers and maintain a good customer relationship on behalf of the NIHE.
- To support and mentor apprentices, as required.
- To attend meetings, training sessions as required, including participating in training with a view to carrying out work outside of normal trade duties, where required.
- To undertake the duties in such a way as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of NIHE.
- To comply with and adhere to NIHE frameworks, policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to legal requirements such as equality, health and safety and information governance.
- To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post's objectives as required by management.
The successful applicant may also be required to provide an emergency call out service, at night and weekends, on a rota basis
Essential Criteria
Applicants must provide evidence, by the closing date for application, that they meet the following essential criteria:
- Have successfully completed a time served or skills electrical apprenticeship.
- Have a minimum of one year's relevant* post apprenticeship experience working in an electrical environment.
- Hold a Level 3 certificate in the requirements for Electrical Installation to C&G 2382-18 (18th Edition) or will achieve this certificate within 9 months of taking up post.
- Hold either of the following electrical qualifications:
- C&G 2391**
- C&G 2394 /2395** electrical testing and inspection
** or will achieve this certificate within 9 months of taking up post
- Be currently registered on a recognised license to practice scheme at a qualified level (such as Spark-safe, etc.)***
***or will achieve this registration within 9 months of taking up post.
- Can demonstrate practical knowledge and understanding of current Health and Safety requirements and legislation in a maintenance/repair environment.
- Can demonstrate (Assessed at Interview):
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Strong customer focus
- Accurate record keeping and attention to detail
- Candidates may also be assessed against the relevant section of the NIHE Behavioural Framework
- Have a full current driving licence to enable the post holder to carry out the required duties of this post
Desirable Criteria
- Have three year's relevant* post apprenticeship experience in an electrical environment.
- Experience in providing a response maintenance service in a domestic environment.
- A full current driving licence which includes C1 licence category.
