Job Title - Domestic Assistant

Job Summary

The Post holder will be required to provide high levels of environmental cleanliness throughout their designated area of responsibility / station. He / she will provide a range of cleaning duties including - floor maintenance, high & low level debris removal, cleaning of sanitary areas, damp dusting, removal of waste, replenishment of supplies etc

Key Duties

* Contribute to ensuring the highest standards of environmental cleanliness within designated area of work
* Ensure that cleaning equipment is clean, in good state of repair and stored correctly whilst not in use
* Floor maintenance to include vacuuming, mopping and use of rotator machinery
* Decontaminating and cleaning of sanitary facilities
* Replenishment of consumables i.e. handtowels / soap / toilet paper etc
* Damp dusting of touch points, furniture, walls and fixtures and fittings
* Cleaning of internal glass partitions
* Locking / securing building and rooms when required
* Disposal of waste in accordance with NIAS policy and procedure
* To monitor / replenish supplies within designated area while ensuring stock rotation is in place
* Ensure equipment is in good state of repair and report any defects

Communication

Communicate effectively with all staff within the organisation and maintain productive working relationships

Engage with Supervisor, in scheduling decontamination cleans when required

To articulate concerns relating to Infection Prevention & Control to Supervisor, Manager or IPC lead

Maintain / contribute to accurate record keeping of cleaning schedules / instructions

To exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality within the workplace

Address actions within his / her remit following audit inspections as required

Health & Safety

Carry out duties and tasks in compliance with Health & Safety policy and statutory regulations

Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided to ensure own safety and that of others

Only use chemicals that comply with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations (COSHH)

Adhere to and promote good Manual Handling practices to ensure own safety and that of others

Ensure that equipment is used as per training and it in good state of repair / stored correctly

Report faults, defects, hazards and near misses as appropriate

Adhere to NIAS policies & procedures at all times whilst on duty

Ensure personal hygiene standards are maintained and work wear is clean, tidy and in good condition

Be available to commit to a "virtual rota" which includes working over a 24/7 period. This includes shift work, on-call and Public Holidays if / when required

Learning & Development

Participate in the Trust annual appraisal programme and identify training / further development needs

To attend & participate in all legal, mandatory and developmental training

To act as role model for peers and provide support to colleagues in learning and development needs
