Salary: £47,304 per annum
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm (37 hours per week - flexi available) Locations: Foyle, Newry and Belfast & Eastern
Duration: Temporary ongoing

About the Role

The Public Prosecution Service for Northern Ireland is seeking to appoint qualified legal professionals to temporary Public Prosecutor roles across multiple regional offices.

This is a key position within the criminal justice system, offering the opportunity to manage a varied caseload and undertake advocacy in courts across Northern Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

• Consider files submitted by police and government departments and decide, or advise, on prosecution in cases before the Magistrates' and Crown Courts
• Prepare prosecution papers and direct appropriate charges and evidence in each case
• Conduct prosecutions in the Magistrates' Courts and, on occasion, the County Court across Northern Ireland
• Provide pre-prosecutorial advice and liaise with criminal justice stakeholders, including victims and witnesses
• Prepare committal papers in indictable cases where required

Please note: duties may vary depending on operational business needs.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must, at the time of appointment:

• Be a qualified Barrister or Solicitor entitled to practise at the Bar of Northern Ireland or as a Solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland

Additional Information

• Hybrid and flexi working may be available in some locations
• Roles may involve travel and prosecution work across Northern Ireland
• CTC security clearance will be required therefore, you must have resided in Northern Ireland/UK for a minimum of 3 years in order to complete this
