Hours: 20 hours (minimum)
Pay: £12.71 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Transport patients between wards, departments, and theatres (e.g. to X-ray, surgery, discharge areas)
• Move medical equipment, beds, trolleys, and supplies
• Deliver specimens, documents, and pharmacy items
• Assist with deceased patient transfers (mortuary duties)
• Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of portering equipment (wheelchairs, trolleys)
• Respond promptly to porter requests via radio or system
• Support emergency situations (e.g. major incidents, fire procedures)
• Ensure patient dignity, comfort, and confidentiality at all times

Skills and Qualities Required

• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Physical fitness (lifting, walking, standing for long periods)
• Reliability and punctuality
• Compassion and respect for patients
• Basic literacy and understanding of instructions
