CATERING MANAGER

Staffline Ireland are recruiting a Catering Manager on behalf of our client in Newry, as catering manager you would be there to manage efficiently the provision of food, beverage and hospitality services, ensuring the delivery of a high quality service in accordance with contract specifications and customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure all food is prepared and cooked to an exceptional standard, ensuring all HACCP regulations are adhered to (if required)
  • Ensure the service counter is prepped and ready for service
  • Ensure the team are providing the highest level of customer service in a consistent approach to anyone who uses the facility
  • Work as part of the team to ensure the service is delivered on time and to the highest possible standard
  • Completing any administration as requested which may include recording of food temperatures, updating cleaning schedules, cashing up tills and recording daily sales figures on the system.
  • Complete bookwork procedures in line with company requirements; in particular the administration of purchasing, cash handling, banking and management of the weekly estimated trading account (ETA)
  • Report defective equipment/ utensils/ work and floor surfaces etc. to the relevant Head Office department
  • Ensure the opening and closing of all food outlets are carried out in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Manage the team effectively to ensure all service areas are fully stocked and well presented, and that the environment is will maintained and attractively displayed with printed daily priced menus and daily specials
  • Ensure all customer suggestions, comments or complaints are dealt with in accordance with Company Procedures
  • Will have responsibility for making day to day operational decisions within the unit.
  • Be the first point of contact for any employee related matters for your team e.g. grievances, disciplinary issues and absence management.
  • Delegating out all job duties to ensure every function is covered
  • Liaise with Client regarding feedback, suggestions and complaints
  • Carry out reasonable requests made by the Line Manager
  • Implement and actively promote new initiatives, promotions and special offers within the unit.
  • Ensure correct portion controls are in place and all team members are fully trained on these controls.
  • Manage the unit in an efficient and effective manner ensuring all Gross profit targets are met and all brand standards/ procedures are adhered to
  • Manage all aspects of hospitality catering including liaising with the client with regards to bookings.
  • Induct, train and appraise employees as per the Company procedures
  • Ensure all Health, Safety and Hygiene policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Comply with HACCP (Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Points) regulations as necessary
  • Ensure everyone in the team are following COSHH procedures for the use of chemicals
  • Carry out regular stock takes and ensure the optimisation of stock levels to ensure there is enough product to facilitate service with as little wastage as possible.

Essential requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a fast paced catering/ hospitality environment.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of HACCP
  • Previous management/ supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to work successfully as part of a team or individually

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience working in a contract catering environment
  • NVQ level 2&3 or City & Guilds 706/ 1&2 or above

Working Hours: Monday-Friday 7.30am - 3pm

Term Time Schedule: 44 weeks
