About the Role
Staffline is recruiting on behalf of NIHE for a reliable and skilled Handyperson to join their team in Ballymoney. This role involves operational grounds maintenance, general property support, and ensuring a safe and high-quality environment for tenants.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties:
Drive, operate, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment including ride-on mowers, tractors, rotovators, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, strimmers, and other grounds maintenance machinery.
Use handheld tools such as spades, forks, secateurs, rollers, and spraying equipment for grounds maintenance.
Maintain shrub beds and grassed areas through planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, grading, reseeding, and watering.
Remove litter and debris from hard areas, shrub beds, waterways, and estates, including fly-tipping material and rubble.
Apply chemicals, pesticides, and weed killers safely.
Load, unload, and maintain equipment, carrying out minor repairs, sharpening blades, and checking machinery.
Report hazards and potential Public Liability Claims (PLICs).
Provide quality customer service and maintain good tenant relations.
Ensure tenant safety, particularly for children and vulnerable individuals.
Performance & Reporting:
Complete job information accurately via paperwork and electronic devices, reporting to supervisors on time.
Maximise output, meet deadlines, and identify opportunities for service improvement.
Follow all Health & Safety legislation and safe working procedures, including COSHH compliance.
Use and maintain PPE, lone working devices, and communication systems.
Report accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Collaborate with colleagues and provide support as required.
Ensure all work is performed to a high standard and leaves properties safe, clean, and tidy.
Requirements
Full current driving licence including B1+E / C1+E category.
Experience operating grounds maintenance machinery and tools.
Knowledge of health & safety procedures, including safe chemical handling.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
