Mechanical Design Lead

MECHANICAL DESIGN LEAD | KILKENNY/HYBRID | PERMANENT

We are looking for an experienced Design Lead to join our client's team in Kilkenny.

THE ROLE |

You will drive mechanical design projects across Ireland's water and wastewater sector. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and deliver innovative, sustainable solutions from concept to handover.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES|

• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary design teams.
• Manage the full design lifecycle: concept → detailed design → handover.
• Review and approve mechanical layouts, equipment specs, and P&IDs.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to deliver projects on time and budget.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in our design process.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR|

• Level 8/9 Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent).
• 7+ years' design engineering experience, ideally in the water sector.
• Proven team leadership and project management skills.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulic design, and plant layout.
• Experience with design software and calculations.
• Practical site experience is a plus.
