An established, engineering-led organisation in Cavan is seeking an RD&I Project Engineer to join its research and development team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on new product development and continuous improvement projects within a structured, compliant manufacturing environment.

The Role

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will manage and deliver RD&I projects from concept through to testing and performance validation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing new product development and product improvement projects

• Mechanical design, prototyping and hands-on testing

• Analysing test data to optimise product performance and design

• Preparing technical reports and maintaining accurate documentation

• Collaborating with manufacturing, quality, technical and operations teams

• Supporting EN standards, CE marking and ISO compliance requirements

• Researching emerging technologies and industry trends

• Reporting on project progress, timelines and results

This role will suit an engineer who enjoys practical testing, problem-solving and working closely with cross-functional teams.

About You

You'll be a proactive and technically strong engineer with a genuine interest in R&D and product development.

You'll ideally have:

• A Level 8 degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

• 2+ years' experience in R&D, product development or a similar engineering role

• Working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD

• Exposure to FEA tools (ANSYS desirable)

• A hands-on approach to mechanical testing and building test rigs

• Knowledge of EN standards, certification and regulatory compliance

• Strong communication and project management skills

• A full clean driving licence and willingness to travel when required
