Job Title: Trainee Payroll Officer

Location: Belfast
Hours of Work: 37.5 Hours per week (reasonable flexibility required)
Salary & Benefits: £23,000 -24,000 OTE - £24,150 - £25,200; Reward & Recognition Scheme; Private Healthcare; Life Assurance & Pension
Holidays: 36 days annual leave including Public Holidays

Job Summary: The Trainee Payroll Officer will work within a dedicated team to ensure payroll is processed accurately and efficiently, adhering to payroll deadlines & legislation, and delivering a high level of data accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing weekly payroll for agency staff across multiple sites (UK & ROI).
  • Perform weekly placement and worker export to payroll and repair any data errors.
  • Performing weekly payroll checks.
  • Preparing timesheet exports, ensuring all data is in required formats.
  • Export timesheets in line with Payroll deadlines and amend any transfer errors reported by Payroll.
  • Reconcile & review payrolls.
  • Processing statutory payments and deductions orders.
  • Issuing payslips and P45s.
  • Generating invoices.
  • Liaising with Branch Network & On-sites for query resolution.
  • Processing holidays and tracking on CRM system.
  • Dealing with any payroll queries and escalate in areas where you cannot resolve.
  • Any other duties as required by Head of Payroll.

Person Specification:

Essential Skills & Experience:

Demonstratable experience using MS Office, especially Excel

Good attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills verbal and written.

An organised, systematic approach to deliver results to deadlines and under pressure.

Education & Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSEs at Grades A-C or equivalent including English and Maths.

Qualities & Disposition:

Willingness to take personal responsibility for work.

Evidence of good problem solving with a focus on accuracy of work.

Commitment to high standards, and continual improvement.

Collaborative team-player; can work cross-functionally with ease.

Ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
