Job Title: Senior Digital & ICT Specialist (Higher Executive Officer Level)
​​​​​​Location:Dublin
Salary starting from : €55,996


​​​​​There are a range of positions across all functions of Digital & ICT in An Garda Síochána that will be filled by successful candidates to this competition. The types of positions available include:

  • Digital Systems Lead.
  • ICT Service Delivery Lead.
  • Digital Business Engagement Analyst.
  • ICT Infrastructure Lead.
  • Systems Development Lead.
  • Network Systems Engineer.

The specific duties of a Senior Digital & ICT Specialist will largely be determined by the role to which you are assigned, however some duties and responsibilities will be common to all roles. The range of activities and responsibilities attached to the position of Senior Digital & ICT Specialist will include some or all of the following:

  • Design, implement and support a wide range of ICT/ digital infrastructures across a broad set of leading technologies.
  • Develop software for web and server applications, batch jobs and mobile apps.
  • Develop and support the network and security infrastructures which support delivery of services for enterprise grade business infrastructure.
  • Lead the maintenance and enhancement of the portfolio of operational information systems and infrastructure, ensuring 24x7 support for mission critical systems.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of relevant ICT-related standards, policies and procedures, and ensuring these are adhered to and built upon.
  • Carry out business analysis activities to support new digital solutions, translating business requirements into design options that are cost effective, efficient, user-centric, sustainable, reusable and comply with standards
  • Promote the effective use of ICT and digital services to support information-led policing and in particular to promote the use of digital solutions to connect data, technology and Garda personnel.
  • Actively assist in the management of vendors and contractors, ensuring that they support project delivery and carry out their tasks in line with the policies and procedures of the organisation.
  • Ensure a focus on continuous improvement and quality service delivery.
  • Architect effective ICT solutions.
  • Manage issues and risks and drive progress to ensure project timelines and service delivery metrics are met. Lead the procurement and implementation of new digital and ICT systems and infrastructure.
  • Manage the financial aspects of digital and ICT solutions, driving value for money and a commitment to public service values.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a broad knowledge of technology solutions, current trends and techniques and proactively pursue new technology developments.
  • Lead and mentor your team to maximise performance.
