R&D Mechanical Engineer

I am recruiting for The Mechanical Engineer to work in the Research & Development Department for my client. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing new cooling solutions for data centres. I am looking for a candidate who has a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, innovative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

The Role:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams supporting new product development.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design, plans, manuals.
• Provide technical support and guidance during the production and implementation phases of new products.
• Participate in reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the R&D department.
• Work closely with the R&D lab team to perform performance testing and validation on prototypes, documenting results and iterating designs based on findings.
• Assist with prototype builds to better understand design and drive improvement.

Key Skills

• Knowledge of HVAC components and systems
• Strong engineering experience in the field of mechanical system design in an OEM environment.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer principles.
• Strong abilities in documentation, project management, and organizational skills.
• Experience with prototype development, testing methodologies, and data analysis.
• Experience with sheet metal design & piping systems design
• Experience with process cooling water systems design
• Experience with refrigeration system design is a significant advantage
• Experience with SolidWorks

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and development industry experience.
