Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Taking ownership of all commercial aspects of several key projects
  • Verifying scope and full commercial ownership of supply from receipt purchase order to project close out
  • Identifying and pricing of all variations as and when they occur
  • Sending out tender enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers ensuring value for money is achieved at all times
  • Checking measured quantities in pricing documents against drawings and other tender documents
  • Inputting data to pricing documents
  • Measurement of sub-contract elements and submission of monthly payment applications to clients
  • Assisting the commercial team to ensure that all contractual entitlements are submitted and recovered from clients
  • Cost analysis and reviews of sub-contractor/supplier costings
  • Liaising with clients regarding the proper valuation of variations and completed works
  • Working closely with the commercial and engineering teams to deliver value for money, control budgets and assess value engineering opportunities
  • Logging and reporting of all variations
  • Improve and implement best practice commercial processes and accurate budgeting
  • Liaise with engineering and sales teams to ensure compliance with all contractual requirements and providing advice and monitoring of same
  • Liaise with the clients and other construction professionals such as site managers, project managers and site engineers
  • Contract Administration
  • Manage Tender Vs Construction Cost analysis
  • Responsible for notifying client/senior management of any increased project value / delay or issues which may affect company performance.

Expectations:

  • The successful candidate will be expected to possess the following:
  • Minimum 3-5 Years' experience in Quantity Surveying roles in a Construction/Engineering business, preferably with construction/contracting and or Electrical switchgear experience
  • Degree level education within Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Commercial Management or a similar field
  • Ability to build strong working relationships
  • Some level of legal awareness and competence in assessing contract documents and contract requirements
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn
  • Persuasiveness / Resistance to internal and external pressure
  • Team player
  • Manage day to day commercial and contract activities
  • Have official handover meeting with estimating team and take full ownership of the commercial aspect of the project
