JOB TITLE

Procurement Buyer - CPI

JOB PURPOSE

To deliver an excellent category management service for Construction Products Ireland (CPI) enabling a safe, cost-effective and sustainable supply. To provide a professional service delivering equipment and services to support the Indirect Procurement requirements of CPI in the most efficient, cost effective and compliant manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential

  • Studying towards MCIPS Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional qualification.
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent by experience.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills with ability to assimilate information.
  • Good direct and indirect category management experience.
  • Flexibility in managing a diverse range of spend categories, applying transferable procurement skills and process in order to address opportunities as well as solve problems.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to create and develop business relationships.
  • Awareness of contract law and its application.
  • Competence in negotiating, renewing and structuring supplier contracts.
  • Competence in cross-functional projects.
  • Experience in collating and understanding customer requirements.
  • Being able to make sense of and allocate different priorities.
  • Proven negotiation experience and an ability to analyse complex pricing models when preparing for/carrying out negotiations or tender exercises.

  • Develops and sustains a way of understanding the key market drivers and trends so as to be fluent at comprehending the future market landscape and implications for procurement.

  • Actively participates in cross functional projects delivering risk reduction, innovation and cost advantages in strategic categories of spend.

ACTION - Sustainable Procurement

  • Ensure compliance with Group Sustainable Purchasing Program (Supplier Charter and CSR assessments).
  • Support the Company's ambition to achieve carbon net zero by 2050 .
  • Understand and mitigate risk of modern slavery for managed categories.

RESULT

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver low carbon solutions
  • Achievement of sustainable procurement KPIs for managed categories
  • Supplier compliance with Saint Gobain policy
  • Maintenance of BES6001 'Excellent' certification
  • Use of CSR evaluation tools with all key suppliers

ACTION - Business controls

  • Adheres to Saint-Gobain internal business controls to ensure delivery of a consistent procurement service.

  • Compliance against Saint-Gobain ICRF

ACTION - Stakeholder management

  • Identifies and cultivates relationships with key stakeholders within business units, Professional Services and Group purchasing teams to keep up-to-date with business intelligence.
