Job Opportunity: People Operations & Workforce Planning Business Partner
Location: Newforge Lane
Hours: 37 per week
Pay Rate: £34,524 per annum

About the Role
The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) is seeking an experienced People Operations & Workforce Planning Business Partner to play a key role in supporting our organisational success.
You'll take ownership of day-to-day workforce planning, oversee people operations, and work closely with stakeholders, HRConnect, and trade union partners to ensure AFBI remains a high-performing and supportive workplace.

What You'll Do
In this role, you will:

  • Lead and support workforce planning processes with AFBI stakeholders and HRConnect.
  • Manage the agency worker framework to secure timely cover for positions.
  • Advise on People & Culture matters, ensuring policies and procedures are upheld.
  • Conduct meetings relating to underperformance, conduct, and attendance reviews.
  • Provide accurate monthly reports and maintain detailed records for management.
  • Carry out monthly internal audits and secure independent sign-off.
  • Coach and mentor HR team members, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Build strong, positive working relationships across AFBI.
  • Ensure confidentiality and duty of care at all times.

Essential Criteria
To be considered, you must have:

  • A Level 5 qualification (e.g. HND, DipHE, Foundation Degree, Level 5 NVQ or equivalent).
  • Associate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
  • At least 2 years' experience in a workforce planning role with hands-on People & Culture processes (e.g. recruitment, absence management, grievance & disciplinary, bullying & harassment).
  • Strong record-keeping skills for management reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word (including pivot tables).
  • Access to transport to fulfil the role's duties.
