Job description

Part-Time Accounts & Administration Assistant

Location: Office-Based, Derry, Northern Ireland
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £17.60 - £18.00 per hour
Hours: 21 hours per week across 3 days (flexible start and finish times)

We're currently recruiting for a part-time Accounts & Administration Assistant on behalf of a respected religious organisation based in the County Derry area. This is a varied and rewarding role suited to someone who's highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently.

You'll be supporting the day-to-day operations of the organisation, working closely with senior team members to ensure things run smoothly behind the scenes. From managing invoices and inputting data into Sage to maintaining records and helping coordinate staff and volunteer processes, no two days will be quite the same.

The position is office based and offers a lot of flexibility - as long as the 21 hours per week are completed over three days, your start and finish times can be arranged to suit your schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing and filing invoices, ensuring they're signed off and authorised

  • Recording payments and receipts using Sage accounting software

  • Completing monthly bank reconciliations

  • Handling cash counts and making bank lodgements

  • Acting as the main point of contact for the organisation's auditors

  • Supporting compliance with financial policies and internal processes

  • Keeping accurate records and ensuring everything is up to date for the central finance team

Additional Duties:

  • Helping implement staff policies and procedures locally

  • Keeping HR records in order and ensuring GDPR compliance

  • Ensuring volunteer paperwork is complete and up to date

  • Supporting with arranging training for staff and volunteers

  • Staying on top of governance tasks and liaising with the wider finance team based in Dublin

What We're Looking For:

  • Ideally IATI qualified (though this isn't essential)

  • 3-4 years' experience in a similar accounting/admin role

  • Comfortable using Sage or similar accounting tools

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office - especially Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Experience in a non-profit or charity setting would be an advantage

  • A self-starter who's organised, reliable, and able to work without much supervision

  • Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to use their skills in a calm, purpose driven environment. If you're someone who enjoys variety in your work and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly, we'd love to hear from you. For more information on the role, please contact - [email protected]
