Job description

Position Overview: As a Maintenance Technician, you will integrate into our Maintenance Department and carry out a wide range of tasks related to reactive maintenance, preventative maintenance, projects and site services/utilities. The work is varied and interesting in an excellent learning environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. The ideal candidate will be time served, multi-skilled and have previous food industry experience.

Working hours: Basic week Mon - Fri 8am - 4.30pm + some weekends, nights and weekend call outs throughout the year. All scheduled in advance to Departmental Rota.

Key Responsibilities (Change if required):

  1. Reactive maintenance tasks (breakdowns, machine set up etc).
  2. Planned preventative maintenance jobs (500+ items to yearly plan).
  3. General worklist jobs.
  4. Work on engineering projects (major CAPEX and smaller types).
  5. Monitor/work on site services/utilities.
  6. Completion of work records for above tasks.
  7. Liaise with other departments to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  8. To work in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with company Food Safety and H&S policies and procedures.
  9. To be/become knowledgeable in all aspects of factory equipment.
  10. To make improvements to equipment to improve efficiency of operation.
  11. Availability for work shifts in accordance with department rotas.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience required

Multi-skilled engineering knowledge/competence (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic etc).

The ability to use personal initiative and/or to work as part of a team in order to complete jobs.

A thorough, conscientious and self-motivated approach.

A sense of urgency and cost consciousness.

Good communication skills.

Experience in a food manufacturing environment (housekeeping, audit standards etc).

Time served.
