Job Title: Maintenance Fitter
Salary/Weekly Pay: £TBC per hour (37.5 hours per week)
On-Call Requirement: 1 in 4 rotation (On call and callout pay)
Reporting To: Maintenance Manager
Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team. This is a hands-on role responsible for carrying out routine and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical equipment and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and be confident working on a variety of pumps and industrial units in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance, repair, and servicing on a variety of air and electric pumps.
- Replace and maintain components such as chevrons, stators, rotors, valves, and seals.
- Conduct general mechanical engineering tasks on drying units, filtration systems, and associated equipment.
- Diagnose faults and implement effective repairs to ensure minimal downtime.
- Work to scheduled preventative maintenance routines and contribute to equipment reliability improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work using internal systems.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company policies and health & safety regulations.
- Participate in the on-call rota (1 in 4), responding to emergency maintenance issues as required.
- Liaise with the Maintenance Foreman and Maintenance Manager on maintenance priorities and resource planning.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support capital projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of pump systems and mechanical components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and engineering drawings.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call system and work flexible hours when necessary.
- Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent) are desirable.
