Estates Maintenance Assistant
Lagan Valley Hospital
Temporary 6 months initially
The Client:
Health Care Trust in the Lisburn area.
The Role:
The post-holder will work as part of a multi-disciplined Estates Operations Team, providing semi-skilled maintenance support across electrical, mechanical, and building systems within the hospital environment. They will carry out both supervised and unsupervised maintenance duties, supporting qualified trades staff, ensuring health and safety compliance, and maintaining key facilities across the site.
- Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks (ie replacing toilet sets, unblocking sinks, tightening hinges)
- Support electrical and mechanical activities (ie changing light bulbs, testing emergency lighting, checking heating systems)
- Maintain accurate Work in Progress (WIP) records and update systems accordingly
- Perform general labouring tasks including erecting shelving and furniture assembly
- Assist with ventilation, boiler, water safety and decontamination related tasks
- Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively in compliant with Trust procedures
- Participate in daily team briefings and liaise with the Estates Supervisor as required
- Record environmental conditions, meter readings and fuel levels
- Follow correct waste disposal procedures and maintain cleanliness of work areas
- Work across all Trust sites when needed and support out of hours response when required
- use digital systems (CAFM, Time Management, Compliance Software) for task updates and reporting
Hours of Work:
- 37.50hrs per week
Requirements:
Essential Criteria:
- 2 years' experience in a mechanical, electrical or building/estates environment
- Ability to use tools relevant to a maintenance setting
- Experience working in an industrial or commercial environment with knowledge of plant equipment
- Valid CSR card
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (criteria waived if candidate has a disability and can meet travel needs through other means
In Return:
- Rate of Pay: £12.31 per hour
