Our client, a leading manufacturing company, who established their first plant in Northern Ireland in 1998 and is now a market leader in the UK and also the most sustainable business of its kind in the world is currently recruiting for a Head of Logistics to join their team at their site in Co Fermanagh on the border with Co Cavan.

The Role:

As the Head of Logistics your duties will include

  • Responsible for the comprehensive provision of warehousing, inbound and outbound logistics services at two sites collaborating with production and sales teams to complete timely inbound services and fulfilment of customer orders
  • Lead and develop the warehouse and site logistics service teams, ensuring consistent and sustainable high performance
  • Manage the fleet, providing support to other sites
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and use insights to constantly improve the ways of working
  • Develop systems and processes for the improved management of customer orders and returns
  • Ensure the effective use of operational budgets
  • Develop and maintain a 5-year capex plan to ensure growing business needs are supported, and leverage proven technologies, systems and equipment
  • Propose and support projects to develop the two sites
  • Report inventory levels and work with warehouse users to proactively manage inventory levels, scrap and obsolescence.
  • Collaborate and develop relationships with the teams to enhance the logistics services to support business growth
  • Influence and promote operational excellence and consistency across the structure to drive performance

Hours of work:

  • Mon - Thurs 8am - 5pm, Fri 8am - 3.15pm
  • 39.5hrs per week

Requirements:

As the Head of Logistics, you will have

  • Degree, preferably in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations or Business Administration
  • Proven ability to develop, manage and motivate high performing teams in a matrix management environment
  • Understanding of the key drivers in customer service, manufacturing, transport & warehousing operations & how this is integrated with Warehouse operations
  • Experience in operating warehouses and warehouse networks to support manufacturing and despatch operations
  • Experience of prioritising and balancing inbound and outbound stock movements & controlling warehouse capacity
  • Experienced in operating inhouse inbound raw materials operations and managing HGV drivers
  • Experience in managing and maintaining a fleet of heavy goods vehicles and other vehicles, production and warehouse support vehicles and trailers and FLT's
  • A working knowledge of supply chain systems & processes within a manufacturing environment (e.g., Order Management Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, Transport Management Systems, Inventory Management Systems & ERP systems especially SAP)
  • An understanding of how to integrate sustainability throughout all processes and decision making.
