Gardener/Greenkeeper

Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation based in Ballymoney require a Gardener/Green keeper to join their team.

Location : Ballymoney

Hours of Work : 37 hrs per week

Hourly Rate : 1-12 week £12.74 13 week £13.69

Main Duties :

• Oversee horticulture and/or fine turf maintenance works in Council facilities, public parks, sports grounds and similar open spaces, to the standards required.
• To present a courteous attitude at all times by assisting with the promotion of good working relationships between Council staff and members of the public.
• Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
• Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

Essential Criteria :

• An NVQ Level 2 qualification in Horticulture or Sports Turf or equivalent qualification which is relevant to the post.

OR

• Demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, a minimum of 18 month's horticulture and/or fine turf maintenance experience gained in a commercial setting to include:
• supervisory experience;
• planting duties, such as planting design, propagation, construction, weeding and shrub care;
• maintenance of soft landscaping;
• irrigation and drainage work;
• fine turf construction/ repair/maintenance (bowling/golf/tennis surfaces);set-up, safe use and routine maintenance of horticultural and grounds maintenance equipment,to include the use of powered and manual hand tools and ride on grounds machinery.
• A full current driving licence (Category C1, valid in the UK).
